Charlotte is Twooooo!

Charlotte got to celebrate her birthday twice this year! On her actual birthday (8/15) we decided to take advantage of the free admission to the Erie County Fair for Veterans (Rick is a vet) and the following weekend we had a barbecue.

Charlotte found a Waterslide!!

Today we were outside on our deck playing with Charlotte's water table. I went to get the hose to fill it with water for her when she pointed and said, "Dora!" There was a Dora slip & slide next to the hose! Charlotte wanted to try it out and she absolutely LOVES it!

She can't wait for some friends & her cousins to come over and try it out with her!

Surprise!

We bought a house yesterday in West Seneca, NY. Charlotte has already taken quite well to all the new space and is quickly showing us the areas we need to be concerned about with regards to child safety. We'll have our hands full for the next month or so (hopefully not that long though) so don't be surprised if we're not on the radar screen for a bit.

More later...

Blueberry Picker

We were looking for a fun family activity to do that would let us explore a bit of our new surroundings. We heard about u-pick farms and thought we would give them a try. Blueberries are the crop in season currently (as well as some other berries) and it just so happens that Charlotte LOVES blueberries. (READ MORE)

Ukulele Meister

We got this Ukulele for Charlotte when we were in Kauai and she loved it then, but now she can actually strum a tune and sing a song. This was not the best (it was a performance on command), but is still super cute.

Potty Time

Despite having started using a loose form of Elimination Communication with Charlotte when she was very little we hadn't really given any thought to potty training (this may partly be due to me not wanting to face the fact that my baby is not a baby). (Read More)

Just a Girl

I knew this day would come but I never thought it would happen so soon. As we were heading out last week I was buckling Charlotte into her carseat and giving her snuggles and tickles and I told her how happy I was that she was my baby girl. She stopped and loudly protested, "I'm NOT A BABY." To which I was shocked and responded, "OK, then I'm glad your my little girl!" This was met with more protests of "NO!" and then a calm response of "No mama, I'm just a girl."

Ummmm..... unsettling in so many ways.

The cow gives me milk

One of our techniques for getting Charlotte to sit still for nail clippings is to watch a Baby Einstein clip from YouTube where they sing a song about cows giving us milk, and chickens giving us eggs. Whenever it is time to clip nails she runs to the computer and requests the song. We had no idea how much she was actually learning from the experience until a few weeks ago during a weekend babyccino break she started a conversation with her plastic cow. (Click Read More)
