Road Trip

At the beginning of February we took a road trip down to L.A. to visit family, and see the Buffalo Sabres play the Anaheim Ducks. It turned out to be a great long weekend of catching up and hanging out; Charlotte also got to go to her first Super Bowl Party! Click "READ MORE" to hear about our trip and see more pictures.

The trip was not meant to be a road trip but I forgot to book tickets in enough time so it became a driving adventure. We left really early on Saturday morning which allowed Charlotte to stay comfortably sleeping in her nice comfy big-girl carseat. We made a stop at the Black Bear Diner in Gilroy for breakfast and coffee and Charlotte got her first try at sitting in a high chair. She loved it! She was super happy and awake and very interested in all of the water cups and food. She was so excited she decided to get her Nana a souvenir bear for her collection!

The rest of the drive was uneventful and surprisingly relaxing (maybe it was because Rick drove the whole way...). We made it in to L.A. just in time for Auntie Taylor's baby shower where Charlotte took center stage showing off her advanced baby skills (scooting and singing).

On Sunday we spent the morning with Nana and Auntie Tin, we had a yummy brunch at King's Hawaiian (cocunut syrup- yum!) and then we headed to Jeremy's Super Bowl Party. We had lots of fun hanging out with Auntie Jess, we even got to eat some yummy pears.

Monday was the "Big Day". Auntie Elissa was able to get us 10 tickets all in a row for the game, and despite the fact that half of our group was wearing the wrong team jersey we had a blast. Before the game we had dinner across the street from the Pond with Nana, Nano and a lot of fellow Sabres fans. Charlotte was a hit in her little jersey and sabres bib! We made it to the rink in time to watch the warm up's and Daddy was able to get Charlotte right up to the glass so she could pound on it and give the guys some pre-game encouragement. Auntie Jess and Jeremy joined us and Aunties Elissa, Julie and Sarah, Nana and Nano to watch the game. Our seats were surrounded by other Sabres fans who couldn't get enough of Charlotte. Despite the Sabres loss it was a fun night and we look forward to the meet-up next year!

It was a little amazing how relaxed and calm Charlotte was in teh arena with all the loud noises, but I guess she is an old pro at the Hockey Games- this was Professional game #5.

The drive home was nice as well. We left early enough to not be in a huge rush, but for there to be plenty of time for me to get to class. Charlotte kept us entertained with her new "carseat dance." She starts shaking her head side to side and making herself laugh. Then she stops for a second and starts it all over again. She was also making some wonderful faces that were cracking me up. I hope we can post some of the video soon.

Enjoy some of our pic's from the trip. (we have definitely scaled down the number of pic's we've taken- or we've just been lazy...)
