Charlotte's Birthday
How old is Charlotte Ava Turlington?
Count Down
It's almost time to PUSH!
Submitted by Rick on Fri, 08/15/2008 - 03:08Another 20-30 minutes and we should be pushing. (It's currently 4:07am PST) Pictures to follow!
Everybody Say "Epidural!" (BTW Ian, Sharon says you can have your $50!)

Well here we are in the hospital finally to stay. We're not leaving again until we have a baby. Contractions were VERY strong and Sharon was 4cm dilated. Since Sharon didn't get any sleep last night she's decided to take the epidural and get some rest before having to push later. We're going to set the cam up here in a little bit but I'm having a problem connecting to LCPH's "free" WiFi - guess I know why it's free now. More to follow later.
Getting there!
Submitted by Rick on Thu, 08/14/2008 - 08:31So as you know from the last post (if you've read it - the one below this) Sharon started having contractions last night at 11pm. Actual contractions... We waited and waited. Sharon took a bath and relaxed with candles and music. I watched the Olympics (well, some of it) while tending to her. There wasn't really much to do though as she mostly wanted to be left alone to focus and meditate.
Week 41! Charlotte is coming!
Submitted by Rick on Thu, 08/14/2008 - 03:12Nothing new! We're STILL waiting
Submitted by Rick on Wed, 08/13/2008 - 10:07Well another week comes & goes without much to report. There has been quite a bit of movement in there though! (As you will see in the videos.) We went to the OBGYN on Monday morning and have confirmation via ultrasound that Charlotte is indeed head down. Click "Read More" below to continue.
There will be a live streaming broadcast from the hospital
Submitted by Rick on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 23:46First since I know everyone is wondering, there is no change in condition. Sharon went to get her hair trimmed today & then to Yoga. Still waiting... very very excitedly!
Stanford hospital has WiFi available from what I've read. Now we won't be broadcasting from any risky angles, but may have the live "Charlotte's Room" cam on while we are in labor & delivery (probably with a few "blackout" periods here & there for privacy).
This past weekend I tested the webcam & broadcast from Baker beach near the Golden Gate Bridge and it worked flawlessly (equipment was running in my backpack with the cam sticking out of the top). It's my hope that we can give family & friends not able to be physically present a chance to see Charlotte real early. You'll need to create a login to see the cam.
In the very near future you'll need a login to read anything on the website.
Last, please note that initially it will be difficult to make calls to everyone with updates once things do start rolling along. The best place for up to the minute information will be right here on the site.
Stay tuned!
Oh oh! A contraction?
Submitted by Rick on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 00:13It's late here (1:10am as I write this). I was up writing up the last of my mid-year review for work and researching a place called "Butter" in San Francisco that a friend told us about when Sharon came out almost completely wide awake (she was previously sound asleep) and said she thinks she just felt a contraction. No guarantees but it might be a start. I was told I probably want to get some sleep starting NOW. :o)
More later - sorry no pictures to go along with this post (what did you expect?) Haha.
Week 39 Part I - Photoshoot
Submitted by Rick on Sun, 08/03/2008 - 19:13
Even though we're not professional photographers we decided to take the D300 out for some fun today up in San Francisco. The spot was Baker Beach and it was quite foggy on the way up there. Luckily once we parked and got onto the beach we saw that the golden gate bridge was clearly visible. More after you click on "Read More" below.
